Pure Energy has a Certified Workforce: all of our
field inspectors and trainers are Building Performance Institute
(BPI) certified.
Since Pure Energy performs diagnostic services -
we don't sell anything - we are independent and non-biased. Our
Certified Workforce can ensure the competence
and qualifications of contractors and installers who install home energy efficiency products and retrofits.
A major focus of our business is providing field verification of measures and services, improving customer satisfaction, and finding hidden opportunities for energy efficiency and conservation. |

Energy Conservation Audits: We run a variety of diagnostics in homes to determine where best to focus energy conservation efforts. These tools include: blower doors, thermal imagers, Watt meters, Solar Pathfinders, non-contact thermometers, combustion analyzers, and other tools. We can also install some measures such as compact fluorescent light bulbs. We test refrigerators, freezers, room air conditioners and dehumidifiers to find the inefficient ones and recommend energy efficient appliances to replace these inefficient appliances.
Quality Assurance and Quality Control Inspections: Our inspections involve checking contractor work to ensure that the work: will not diminish the integrity of the structure; will last for many years; is appropriate for the resident; will perform as designed; is safe; will save energy; and provides the utility or governmental entity with cost-effective results. We also make sure the contractor didn’t miss any cost effective opportunities that meet program goals. Our home visits typically include inspecting all parts of the structure, including the hard-to-reach areas.
Customer Energy Education: We interview utility customers to
determine energy use patterns. We determine if the energy
use is higher than average. If it is, we work with the
consumer to discover if the high use may be due to energy
waste in the home; and/or structural problems; and/or
appliance inefficiencies. Using utility bills as a guide, we
use a system to help us focus our time with the customer. We
discuss energy use habits and advise customers as to how
their behaviors and appliances affect their utility bills.
We then provide suggestions for alternate behaviors and
explain the resulting savings. We also do utility rate
analysis and counseling to determine which rate structure is
best for the customer.
Conservation Program Development and Management: We help
governmental entities and utility program managers design
program procedures and develop manuals for measure and
installation specifications.
Contractor Technical Training: Due to the sheer number of
years we have been involved with residential energy
conservation programs, we are often asked to provide
skills training to other energy conservation contractors.
We train in the field and in the classroom. We also teach
at national energy conservation conferences.
